Shining in the July dust, heat rising off the road out in front of my truck.

Truck: Chevrolet Half Ton Pickup
Year: 1947
Where: Big Lots, Ocala
When: August 2019
This half ton pickup is part of the 'Advance Design' pickup series. Chevy's restyled 'Advance Design' trucks were introduced to the public in 1947, and it was their first major redesign after World War II. From 1947 to 1955, this series of Chevy Trucks were the number one sales in the United States.
The main purpose for the new design was to make the truck's occupants comfier, in a roomier cab. Alongside this, Chevrolet created the 'Observation Car Vision' for the new fleet of trucks. The 'Observation Car Vision' meant that there was more glass area; with wider windshields, side windows and backlight.
Up until 1953 there were minor styling and engineering upgrades between the years, however you can tell this truck is from 1952 as it is equipped with the push button door handles and the speedometer now has a maximum of 90mph instead on 80.
