Martinique Blue, you don't see too many Firebirds this colour!

Model: Pontiac Firebird Trans Am
Year: 1978
Where: Ace Cafe, Orlando
When: 01/01/2019
After such a dramatic styling change for the 1977 model, the 1978 Trans Am Firebird appeared to be mostly a carryover. However what the '78 model could be remembered for was the #horsepower and #handling. After constant pressure from the fuel economy regulation and insurance companies, horsepower levels had been on a a seemingly never-ending fall. Luckily, the T/A 6.6L engine of the '77 started to reverse the trend.
During this time a new word began circling around the American car-builders industry, handling. The American public wanted cars with razor sharp reflexes, and Pontiac was able to meet these needs for 1978.
